HEATHERTON INDOOR BOWLING CLUB was officially opened by Richard Corsie on the 16th October 1994 The Club forms part of the Heatherton Country Sports Park Situated 1 mile from Tenby and is owned by Hugh and Charles Davies
A great deal of work and organisation was put in by the steering committee formed at an inaugural meeting in April 1993 The up to date committee consists of the following :-President Mr Hugh Davies, Chairman Mr Lewis Hilling , Secretary Mr Ian Evans, Assistant Secretary Mr Tony Lamb, Treasurer Mrs Cynthia Evans, Fixture Secretary Audrey Owens , Competition secretary Michael Gouldingay, The Club has awarded four Life memberships for Faithfull Service. Lewis Hilling Founder Chairman and still in office Tony Lamb Honorary Secretary for 9 Years. Mrs Winnie Lamb for assisting her husband in all aspects of his office, and Mr Gwynfor Davies faithfull Treasurer for 8 years Mr Tony Lamb, Club Secretary from day one did most of the spade work in setting up all the internal leagues , Club Tournaments, and getting the Club Affiliated to the Welsh Indoor Bowling Association in June 1994. His Contribution to to the Club over its lifetime has been invaluable and the Club owes him a great debt of gratitude The Management Committee meet once every month and deal with all the affairs of the Club domestics . League Bowling commenced on 10th October 1994 The first friendly match was against Merthyr on 17th October 1994 The first Welsh League game was played in October 1995 By December 1994 Heatherton boasted 300 members, owing to new clubs being opened in the area. Membership is now around 250 Heatherton has produced 2 full Internationals and this year John Roberts got to the Semi Final of the Welsh Open Singles Competition The Club has also had a Few Welsh Trialists, and two have attended the Junior School Of Excellance The Winners of our own Domestic Tournaments who have also travelled to Bodylweddon have Aquitted themselves well Heatherton has faithfully fulfilled all its commitments to the Welsh Indoor Bowling Association its internal leagues ,and Tournaments from Domestic right up to National. The Club fields two teams, Six rinks in the Welsh Indoor Bowling Association Saturday League and Four Rinks in the Sunday League. The Ladies section of the Club was set up in 1994, Their contribution to the Clubs success has been invaluable. They are active in all aspects of the life of the Club, and 3 of there members sit on the management committee The Club celebrated 10 years of Bowling on 16th October 2004 with a fun afternoon on the Green, followed by a meal in the Club House, which as usual was laid on by the ladies In the 2004/2004 Season Heatherton Finish with a Flush Heatherton 174 Shots Carmarthen 82 Playing their last Welsh League match of the season Heatherton produced a brilliant days bowling to win on all rinks collecting a maximum 22 points and winning overall by 92 shots. Heatherton has had a very good season The best ever in the 10 years history. They played 10 matches Won 6 Lost 4 to finish third in the Welsh League this is a wonderful achievment for the Pembrokeshire Club .Heatherton bowlers have played consistency well all season to achieve this, And all members of the club are really proud of them WELL DONE
