The season got off to a flying start with the veterans winning there first game of the season against Bro-Myddin by 12 shots picking up a good 10 points And to follow that they beat arch rivals Pembrokeshire in the next game by picking up 12 points which is the best start on record for Heatherton

. On Saturday October 16th Heatherton Celebrated there 10th Aniversary The committee had decided that this day should be " A Fun Day" and so it turnes out to be ,with ,Games, FreeRaffle, Food, - Oh Bowling The Activities started at 2pm with Chairman Mr L Hilling welcoming the members to the Stadium , which had been decorated with balloons etc Each team had been given a appropiate name e.g. The Jacknappys and from then on a mixture of bowling which involved changing rinks and positions followed by a fun game. The Opening activity was a " Spider" but with a difference-The Jack was tied to a balloon! Then came the first session of Bowls Next came " Don"t Go Down the ditch Daddy " which meant playing one end full length and another end with the mat in the middle of the green and you had to have your wood stopping within a yard of the Ditch to get a point which would go onto your overhall score

The Final Game was "Bowling Through The Arches" This resulted in a few sore ankles . But they still manages the last few ends of Bowls At about 6.30pm the participants sat down to a superb meal organised by Mr M Davies,Wife of the President Mr H Davies The festivities were rounded up with eloquent speeches from the Club President and the Chairman who thanked the appropiate people for their work in bringing the Club into being and those who had organised the day into such a success Another bowler in the news this week is Chris Court he has just been picked for a under 25s Trial at Islwyn IBIC on Sunday 24th October And Mathew Dick has been selected to play for The Welsh Under 16 Boys at Cynon Valley on 6th November Also there is no stopping John Roberts at the moment amongst all his other games he has been picked to play for Wales against Spain on the 5th December he has only just returned from Ireland where he represented the Welsh Squad Heatherton Finish with a Flush Heatherton 174 Shots Carmarthen 82 Playing their last Welsh League match of the season Heatherton produced a brilliant days bowling to win on all rinks collecting a maximum 22 points and winning overall by 92 shots. Heatherton has had a very good season The best ever in the 10 years history. They played 10 matches Won 6 Lost 4 to finish third in the Welsh League this is a wonderful achievment for the Pembrokeshire Club .Heatherton bowlers have played consistency well all season to achieve this, And all members of the club are really proud of them WELL DONE Welsh Indoor Singles All Heatherton members wish John Roberts in the semi finalsat Llanelli It will be televisedon BBC2 on Monday 7th February. Champion of Champions Heatherton singles Champion Charles Davies playing at Bodelwyddan Castle Hotel North Wales performed really well in his first round match against Phillip Carpenter He won the first set 7 - 2 But lost in the second 6 - 7 and lost the third 7 - 0 Well done Charles so close to winning, Welsh KO Cup Playing tere second round of the Welsh KO Cup Heatherton came up against Ammanford in the Premier Welsh Leaque. The thee home rinks bowled really well two of the winning and one losing with a 7 shot advantage. Bit sadly the three rinks playing away all lost by a margin of 43 shots, resulting in a overall defeat of 36 Shots.The Veterans Also had a good season there first three games were at home and they won all three getting of to a good start which as never been done .But unfortunately when it came to playing away they could not get the results together so better luck next season . The Club Competitions was very well supported this year with John Roberts and Joice Howe winning the championship singles and and Mair Marquiss and Betty James winning both the Over 60s and Ladies Pairs And Chris Court and Mathew James winning the Mens Doubles For all the Results please Click HERE for the Photos please Click HERE The Wednesday after the Finals it was time once again for our usual presentation evening The Chairman Mr Lewis Hilling called for a minutes silence in memory of our late secretary Mr Tony Lamb who was mostly responsible for getting Heatherton Bowling Club of the ground he was nicknamed Mr Bowls and he will be missed a great deal all our thoughts go out to his wife Winnie and family The chairman then handed over to Mike Gouldingay the Tournament Secretary who went on to thank everyone for there support during the last two weeks and the ladies who had put on a marvellous buffet then Mike paid a special tribute to Mr Tony Shaw who helped him throughout the Tournaments saying without him he would not have coped and thanking him very much for all he had done After announcing the midweek League winners He called on Mr & Mrs Davies to present the trophies to the Tournament winners A good night was had by al1
